Zypp Electric, a prominent EV logistics business and electric mobility solutions provider SUN Mobility from Bengalore collaborated on Wednesday to provide last-mile delivery services in metropolitan areas. This is the first collaboration of the firm, as part of the Mobility as a Service (MaaS) program, which was just launched.
As a result of the partnership, 10,000 electric vehicles are expected to be deployed over the next three years across multiple platforms. According to the current partnership, Zypp will receive a cutting-edge electric mobility solution that comprises leading cargo vehicle types with smart batteries and access to a vast network of Swap Points.
This service is available on a pay-per-use basis and includes unlimited battery exchanges. Battery and charging infrastructure is not a concern for Zypp as it grows its fleet operations.
When it comes to fleet uptime and cost savings, SUN Mobility’s industry-leading 2-minute swap gives it an edge over the competition. Using common battery swapping infrastructure, Zypp’s fleet will be more flexible because of the interoperability of battery swapping technology. The telematics data and analytics from these linked batteries improve operational efficiency and reduces the need for maintenance. Retail, eCommerce, and grocery delivery are all areas where Zypp wants to use these vehicles.
Chetan Maini, co-Founder, and chairman, Sun Mobility said, “With Zypp we are on the verge of transforming urban last-mile delivery. Our smart mobility solution enables various types of electric vehicles to be commercially deployed by using a common energy infrastructure. EVs in last-mile delivery is the fastest-growing segment with over 10% penetration (monthly sales) in the three-wheeler cargo segment. Our comprehensive MaaS offering can enable fleet operators to adopt e-mobility in an accelerated manner. We aim to deploy 10,000 EVs with Zypp on our platform across the country.”
Akash Gupta, co-founder, and CEO, Zypp Electric, said, “In our pursuit to serve the fast-growing last-mile delivery segment we are delighted to have partnered with Sun Mobility under their MaaS model. This has enabled us to rapidly electrify and deploy our fleet of vehicles with benefits like an unlimited number of kilometers on road, no downtime for charging, no high upfront capital, and other issues about maintenance and warranties. Zypp and Sun Mobility share some great synergies and we are looking forward to scaling this partnership with EVs in various models across the country.”
Using its MaaS solution, SUN Mobility intends to onboard over one million cars by 2025. As of now, the company has begun deploying solutions in the eCommerce and goods delivery categories in key cities such as Delhi NCR, Bangalore, and Chandigarh, with ambitions to extend to additional cities throughout India in the near future. Numerous fleet operators use the firm’s vehicles, and the company has a large order book for thousands more.
