EVgo and the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District (Sac Metro Air District) have teamed up. The collaboration provides qualifying participants in the District’s Clean Cars 4 All program with up to $2,000 in credits to use at EVgo’s network of electric vehicle charging stations. EVgo is a nationwide electric vehicle charging service provider with more than 300 fast-charging facilities throughout California.
Clean Cars 4 All is a Sacramento Metro Air District program that assists low-income citizens in purchasing zero- or near-zero-emission vehicles. Clean Cars 4 All is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide project aimed at lowering greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and enhancing public health and the environment, particularly in low-income areas. The charge credits will be provided to more than 200 current Clean Cars 4 All program participants, with plans to expand to more in the future once the Sac Metro Air District begins accepting new applications.
“Our partnership with EVgo will provide another option for Clean Cars 4 All program participants to gain access to electric vehicle charging,” said Jaime Lemus, Division Manager for Transportation & Climate Change. “For those living in apartments and other multi-dwelling units, where installing a home charging unit is difficult, these credits will go a long way towards making our program more inclusive and helping our new EV car owners realize a more sustainable lifestyle. We’re looking forward to collaborating with businesses and organizations who share our commitment to clean air and a low-carbon future for all.”
Over 80% of California residents live within a 10-mile radius of an EVgo fast charger. In the multicounty region that encompasses Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer, Nevada, Solano, San Joaquin, Yolo, Stanislaus, Glenn, Sutter, and Colusa counties, there are more than 40 stations. In the next five years, EVgo wants to install 30 more fast-charging stations in the greater Sacramento area.
“This latest partnership with the Sac Metro Air District builds on EVgo’s unwavering commitment to environmental justice through community partnerships. We can only achieve our vision of electric for all by collaborating with others who promote equal access to fast charging,” EVgo Chief Commercial Officer Jonathan Levy stated.
